Vera June Kreke, 92, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, leaving behind a richly-lived life and 92 years of cherished memories for her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Vera was born June 17, 1932 in Effingham, IL. She was raised near the Effingham Airport on the Having farm, where she has shared many of her memories. Vera's earliest memories are of walking to Bryant School. Even as a young girl, Vera had a strong mindset. While most young girls wore dresses made of flour sacks, she preferred to wear bib overalls because they had lots of pockets to carry her
