Peggy L. Phelan, 77, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at her home in rural Dieterich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, July 8, 2024 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bishop Creek, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Elliottstown. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to HSHS Hospice.
Peggy was born April 2, 1947 in Effingham, the daughter of Bernard F. and Lucille M. (Francis) McMahon. She married Ronald Phelan on September 16, 1978 at the Mt. Zion Church in Elliottstown. Peggy generously shared her warmth and care with the neighborhood children, lovingly babysitting them. She enjoyed tending to the flowers in her yard, as well as collecting rooster and chicken statues. Above all, she treasured moments with her friends and family, with her grandson holding a special place as the light of her life.
