Marie C. Dust, 82, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at her home in Effingham, surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the church. Memorial donations may be given to St. Anthony Schools.
Marie was born September 2, 1941 in Jasper County, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Vahling) Zumbahlen. She married Nicholas Michael Dust on October 24, 1959, and together they owned and operated Dust & Son Auto Supplies. Marie missed him immensely since his passing on March 19, 2000.
Throughout her life, Marie found joy in the simple pleasures of life whether she was playing tennis, tending to her yard, or sharing laughter with her sorority and unbridge groups. She cherished her time with family, often with a glass of wine in hand, and a good "one-liner" to add to the conversation.
